I have only killed 1 canvasback in my whole duck hunting life but we mostly hunt swamps and woods so you just never see them around where I hunt.
Well the past 2 days have been hunts to remember. We killed a nice Canvasback drake Sunday afternoon and a few more ducks and I thought it was an awesome day.
So I took off work to hunt Monday and I'm glad I did. It turned into a diver shoot early then the Mallards got up and moved latter in the day and we killed a nice mixed bag. We had one good size group of 15-20 Cans come in at less then 20 yrds and me and friend picked out 2 really nice drakes. My friend even killed his first redhead yesterday also. You just don't see these birds hardly at all where I hunt. I have duck hunted this area for almost 25 years and this is the first time we have killed divers like this. Even more odd to me was out of all the ducks we killed, all were males but one. We were not picking out drakes other then from the group of Cans. It just happened that way.
