Fellow hunters, Anyone hunting in West Tenn? Are you seeing signs of rut? About to head out in a couple of hours. Went last weekend but no real bonafide indications of Rut activity. Anyone else in the area seeing signs that Rut is here or closely upon us. Got to be any day now.
 
Not really. A lot of the pictures I have seen do not show the bucks really paying attention to scrapes or chasing. I hoped the cold weather would kick them in high guy. I really didn't see it. Based on my past experiences, this week and the following 2 weeks is when I see the most rutting activity. That being said, I don't believe the weather is going to play nice this week with a warm front moving in. It might put a damper on some of the activity. We will see.
 
On my place in Hardeman, we have seen several scrapes and rubs. I had anice 2.5 year old 8 point walk through my food plot that had 3 does in it, and he couldn't have cared less about them. However, I have seen a few small bucks bumping does, so not too far away!
 
On our place near bolivar it seems like things might just now be starting, I had 3 bucks chasing a doe the other day and we have seen a lot of bucks cruising but my wife had some does feeding out in front of her Sunday for a long time with no sign of a buck

I hunted Decatur Co. this past weekend and saw several young bucks harassing a few does, but no hard chasing. I suspect at this point it is on fire. I am going again Friday and expect to see a lot of rutting activity.
 
I went yesterday morning from 0930 to 1320. Had a mature doe come by at 1020 with a flirtatious walk. Tail up and she appeared to be feeling pretty. She walk right into my scent lane. Stopped looked my way and merely resumed her walk down the beauty pageant runway. A 6 pt came down her trail about 10 minutes later in search. Nothing aggressive. He got in my scent lane, took one whiff, jerk his head back towards my direction and took off like a bat out of Hades. The larger bucks are not out just yet or at least not around me. Any day now.
 
NE Fayette - as of Sunday, no scapes or rubs seen. Does have had yearling bucks with them, and no signs of estrus on Does taken. However, last week, was told by my local processor that the Bucks that came in were reportedly following scent trails with their noses to the ground. I'm back out tomorrow. I hope it's ON...
 
Haven't been out since last weekend but there was several active scrapes I have cams on I cant wait to check. Saw 5 bucks (no does) Sunday from daylight till 11 in Fayette. All young and just cruising along casually. 1 had a stare down with my buck decoy before he got nervous and high tailed. Weather looks crappy this weekend but me and the kiddo will be there. Its time for her to get one of these bucks!
 
Not seeing 1/20 the scrapes I've seen at this time of the year for the last 8 years and I don't have but 1 shooter buck on camera and very few small bucks and does. My last 2 camera pulls really have me puzzled. I can't find them yet.
 
I've seen some small bucks following and one active chase, but they are all immature bucks. No movement yet from the big guys. For Fayette/Hardeman, I'd say you are still early by a week.
 
It's time. So far this morning I've seen 6-8 does, several little bucks chasing, and a 130" 9 point that needs another year. He was following a doe back to bed so they're definitely on their feet looking. Pops is a half mile north of me and is seeing the same.

Get in the woods.
 
I've been stuck at work and havnt been able to hunt the last two weeks here in shelby county but seen big bucks nose to the ground acting stupid chasing after does. My dad killed an 8 last weekend at our place in hardeman and he was tore up from a bigger deer and was chasing a doe in my opinion it's here

Last years opening day of rifle was horrible, it was 30mph+ winds. Between like 6 of us on our farm we saw two deer
 
Saw 7 bucks yesterday. 2 pretty good racked bucks I guessed at 2 1/2 or 3 1/2 they were pestering does. The other 5 were 1 1/2 bucks and they were running the heck out of them. I think its about to break but with weather will hamper daytime movement.
