Went shooting today

It was great to get out and shoot the 12 gauge for a while. I figured out pretty quickly I prefer the 2 3/4 inch slugs and buckshot instead of the 3 inch. Those 3 inchers kick like a mule. :eek:

I did ok with the buckshot, but didn't do too well with the slugs. I only hit the target once with the slugs, the other times I shot below the target...not sure why. :confused: A few shots of buckshot also went just below the target. I shot from a standing position, standing about 10-15 yds from the target. Maybe I was aiming too low.

Maybe I just need to practice more, I don't shoot the shotgun as much as I should. :crazy:

Try some of those 3.5 in mags!!Good grief those kick like an elephant,not a mule,and elephant.I ain't never shot anything to compare to it.First time I shot a 3.5in turkey load,had my shoulder braced upagainst the tree in the yard,man oh man.It put a hurtin on me.

Try the Reduced recoil slugs. We got some at work and tested them. They were very accurate and the recoil was very tolerable as compared to a "full load".
We have found that when using ghost ring sights or rifle sights on slug guns when shooting at 50 yards, if you hold on a horizontal line with the shoulders at a human silhoutte target, you will get a center mass hit (meaning it shoots a little high).
We have not tried any scoped shotguns.

Cecil3030--my gun doesn't use the 3.5 in shells. Good thing, because I would'nt use them! :eek:

Hatchee, I will check out some reduced recoil slugs. The 2 3/4 buckshot wasn't that bad, and I suppose the slugs won't be that bad as well. I was using a smoothbore barrel, so rifled slugs are what I'm using for now.
