Foster Butt, local taxidermist and I were down in AL on a private lake. It had been raining and about mid afternoon, the sun broke out. Hot as oven. We jumped in the boat and went fishing.

Ot was a war. For an hour we caught fihs like this about every third cast. They were hitting bizzbaits. I bet we caught 25 in this size range. We weighed this one. What do you think she weighed? Og, all were released,

Based on her age, the water quality and the comparison to known objects in the picture, I'd say less than if it was caught in Florida.

It was big enough to put a heck of a smile on somebody's face, so I'd say big enough.

Silver Fox has not had a lot of experience at judging fish weights :).

On digital scales, that sow just one ounce shy of 9 pounds.
 
Decent day, I have access to a private place. Few years ago on a rainy day we caught (between us) close to 100 over 5 lbs each on floating worms and buzzbaits. Had a couple close to 7 lbs. My friend has fished several of the "top" lakes in Mexico and he said on those lakes he never had a day like we had.

My best total up there in 2 days for quality fish was 7 that weighed a total of 49 lbs with an 8-15 in the bunch. Last year on mother's day I sat on one spot and caught well over 200 bass, average 1-1/2 lbs or so but lost count on 3-5 lb fish I caught. All on a plastic worm.

Knight and Hale said it was one of the nicest places they had ever been on. Harold I believe caught one close to 10.

Nothing to judge him by... the fish is being held out towards the camera giving the impression he is bigger than he actually is. No size of the guy holding him. No length given on the fish. I've got plenty of judging on fish weights in person but pictures, when taken from the angle this one is, adds weight to the fish. Case in point.... two fish we caught Monday. Both are not nearly what you they appear in the pictures.

Now in the below pic, the fish is held by my side. I am 6'4 feet tall. That alone gives you something to judge size by. The fish on the right weighed in at 8.5 pounds, which is a monster compared to the two fish above.

SF- Don't you know standing in water will make the fish look a lot smaller? That kid that was on here all the time being a pain in the six told me that. What the heck was his name? MOved to FL or some place. Big fan of the spoonplug.

I hate it when I can't remember a name.
 
Yes, Ole Tartar Sauce and I had quite a love affair! My hair turned gray just going back and forth with him. Then, some of it fell out trying to get through one of his gargantuan paragraphs. :grin:

I woke up from the daze and realized I was letting life pass me by. Got over it pretty dern quick.

Had my last treatment at 4 pm.m today, still recovering and a little woozy but plan to head down to the Lodge, March 15 for the closing down ceremony and some fishing. I'll look for your watch again, Gil. :)
