I took the plunge yesterday and ordered a CVA Apex in 45-70 and a scope also. I I talked to Robert Young and he is going to do the conversion on the barrel. I also ordered rings for the scope last night. I need to order a ram rod but don't know the length. I am going to call Arrowhead this evening and talk to them about some sample packs of bullets and sabots. And the rod. Any input from our local experts would be greatly appreciated.

Blue Harvesters and 200 gr. SSTs. I like to use a Spin Jag on my ramrod too but they aren't required. Between Slufoot and Luke you'll have everything you need to get going.

I would check on the knight takedown ramrods at numrich... $13 vs $55 and the knight rods are threaded so you can push and pull.. The ones Luke sells aren't worth a crap for pulling..
You will prolly love the apex.... I prefer the Barnes 195gr....
I ordered a Zeiss conquest 41/2x14x44. My eyes just are not what the once were. I have a couple of Zeiss scopes on some other rifles and they really help me in a low light conditions. that is where I really struggle to see. As my budget allows I hope to replace some of my other scopes with Zeiss

I still haven't received the gun. I am a little surprised. But as soon as I do the barrel goes off to Robert. I will let you know when I get everything together mike. Eric Kilby wants to check the gun out also. We may all get together and shoot.
Ok just name the time, got word we will be working every other Saturday starting next year, not sure how all that will work out yet, I work every 3rd sat now not counting all the 6 day weeks they add, It takes away a lot of family time that I treasure more every day as the grand kids get bigger, not too long their friends /girl friend/boy friend will replace me, wife will make me finish/do the things I put off lol
