We tried West Sandy last year and were very very disappointed to say the least.

We have decided to go back to Gooch this year.
Were gonna go and stay for the top 3 or MAYBE the top 5 then hit the road.
If we don't get a top pick we will concentrate our efforts on an open water blind on KY lake.

I know that everyone that hunts there kills limits every day out of any blind out there but from what I have seen there ain't a nickels difference in any of the blinds there after the top 5.

Anyway.... so where is everyone going this year?
 
Back to Camden this year, with the intent that we will be hunting our blind on the lake out of Eva if we don't draw, or if we aren't seeing much movement in the bottoms.
 
I'll probably hold onto my ticket, but I think I'd rather have tenth pick at gooch than a blind on the lake. Good luck to those who do participate. I look forward to hearing what everyone got, even tho it rarely changes much.....
 
Throwing my lot in at Old Hickory Unit 1. Started drawing there in the mid 70s and with the exception of a few years have always drawn there. I've got a list that most folks would shake their heads at but when we've been drawn, we've done ok. Got other options if we don't get drawn. When my list is depleted, we gone.

My wife just couldn't manage well enough for me to get away last year. Seemed like every time you text it was one of the bad days.
We all good this year though.


What made it so bad for us last year was one of the permanent blinds at West Sandy made sure that if they weren't shooting at the ducks NOBODY was going to.
I was warned before the season started about the guy and how he did and sure enough he lived up to the hype for sure.
I will never understand that. 3 blinds in the immediate area and eventually the ducks will decide which one they are going to drop into. Be it from location, decoy spread and / or calling or whatever. At that point, just let 'em work and let them kill them. When there ain't but 2 or 3 people in a blind they will limit out pretty quick if the ducks are working their spot. Apparently very few people see it that way and even fewer will let a duck actually work into their hole.
