We were rabbit hunting on a deer lease in SW Wayne County that a friend is a member of. We turned loose on a ridge top with no creek in sight. We were in pines with a food plot on the firebreak.

Well, as I'm walking down the edge of the plot, I look down and there laid a near perfect arrowhead. I'm no expert on what is what but is looks like your common point about 2.5" long and the base had a small chip most likely from tearing the plot up.

I've never found one so far from a creek. I mean, we were on a huge plateau type ridge probably a mile from the nearest creek.

I imagine it was just dropped many 1000's of years ago and maybe was from a miss and not recovered.

I looked for more but of course, nothing. lol
 
I have found 3 arrowheads on the tee boxes of two different golf courses.
I also found one in the middle of a well worn cow path going through a pasture one time.
I figure the golf course finds were due to the movement of dirt in the building process of the course.
The one in the pasture I figure was like yours, just a lost arrowhead from many many years ago.
Pretty cool to find one like that when you aren't really "looking". :D
 
It sure makes you wonder when it does not fit the "pattern". I have seen enough "weird" ones that I can hardly pass up bare dirt regardless of the location. Pictures???

We shot 4 by lunch and went home. We caught the dogs off two (split race) because we had to leave.

We ran the first rabbit about 1.5 hours and shot at him 6 times. I'm pretty sure he either holed or they caught him about 200 yards from us. The race just stopped for 5 minutes or so. Then one of my females struck again about 75 yards from us and I know it couldn't have been the same rabbit. I jumped two that we never ran also. It was full of rabbits you could say. lol
 
I just wandered into this forum. I'm not in much cuz it gets me so worked up and I don't know jack squat about hunting heads!

But this sounded so much like the first arrowhead I ever found, I had to post. It was maybe 6 years ago (I'm 44), I'm hunting on top of a mountain not too far from Athens, GA, and walking through a tumble of downed pines from a recent clearcut. I look down and at my feet is a gorgeous russet-colored arrowhead! It looks like it came out of a souvenir shop. No apparent features anywhere around to explain why it's there. I'm thrilled to the core.

Next day I take my buddy there to show him where I found the head, look down, it has been replaced with a white quartz arrowhead! We looked for 30 minutes in that tumble of logs and never found another stone.
 
They were here for approx. 18,000 years before us. They had to hunt everyday to stay alive. Over 18,000 years that's alot of shots. Just picture the field, pasture or what ever covered in a large hardwood forest. That's what it looked like then. Now, going by the terrain, where would you hang your stand. Bet you'll find points there if you look hard. Every time I find a non-broken one I laugh, cause I no they must have missed and couldn't find their arrow!! :grin:
 
first arrow head I found was on the farm in Gibson county where I was raised. It was turned up from plowing the field I suppose.
Close to a HUge HICKORY nut tree.
It has been the thickest and longest arrowhead I have ever found.
rough cut, not fine edged at all.
I found it when I was knee high to a duck. And after findng it, I would wander down to the old hickory tree, sit a spell and day dream of indians and tepees all around me.
It was the only one I ever found on the farm. Trust me, I looked every time I went out. I even walked every square foot of the small hillside where I found this one and never found any flint what so ever.
So I daydreamed of buffalo roaming and an indian hunter loosing his arrow hunting them right there under the hickory nut tree.

just thought I'd share that with ya this morning.
