Weird Drawing

Nothing fishy, just common sense.
If you have 10 people in your group you need to keep as many names in the hat as possible to increase your chances at getting another shot in the second drawing.
We did the same thing.

Perfect example....

We were standing by a group that got drawn and had a 3 sign ons.
Halfway through the draw, another one of them got drawn but he was already a sign on so was disqualified.
5 or so pics later another one of them was drawn, he was a sign on too so disqualified.

Needless to say, they regretted their decision. 2out of 3 of the sign ons should have had their name in 2nd draw

Anyone else ever wonder how a group expects to hunt a blind consistently when the only person with a card is in highschool 5 days a week?

Others in the group shoulda signed on with him.

I know that. I just sat in my chair shaking my head. I get strategy, but at some point common sense should kick in.

I'm checking cards and IDs while I hop blinds this year. Itll piss alot of people off but, there are less cards to blinds this year for sure

I also noticed the blinds did not go in the normal order this year, seems like picks were all over the place. I know a lot of that was based on where there was corn, and where there was nothing.

Could it be first timers that didn't know the area ?
I know that's what we did the first year we were there.
Just took one that had a blind on it.

When did 74 go?

Definitely some strange choices in the top that are normally in the low end. One in particular was shocking, but it's their choice! Good luck to everyone who drew.
Ruger, do y'all have to build 3?

Some of the weird picks could have simply been not wanting to hunt certain areas by other certain hunters that they know will be there for 60 days. I know I would never go back to Camden even if every blind killed 800+. I just don't enjoy that kind of hunting. I'd choose a less desirable blind just to be able to enjoy the season and I know a few groups that I think that is exactly what they did and I cannot blame them for that.

No sir, it already has a blind in place and it is in good shape.
There was another spot that we could have taken (on B dock) but I decided it wasn't worth building a blind for and went with the one that was ready.
It has a massive covering of honeysuckle on it now. Enough that our brushing will be nothing like it normally would be.

Make sure you swing by one day to hunt or at least eat breakfast :D

Lots of the picks at Camden only had 1 or 2 people as sign ons in the first round. Sure seems fishy.

Nearly all the names at Reelfoot went up by themselves. The largest group of sign-ons I saw was 1 + 3. Usually the only ones that didn't go solo were the bored-looking women that got drawn, went up to sign on their beaming smile husband/boyfriend.

Going to be a lot of this going on this year. It will be interesting.

There will be lots of people working decoys while someone is in the blind trying to kill ducks. GW may be busy.

I'm kinda confused on this one?
What do you mean checking cards and IDs ?

Im thinking he wants to make sure the card holder is actually who he says he is.

A lot of people were jotting names down for the good blinds that only had a sign on or two so they won't get bamboozled into thinking they have to leave if they happen to hop the blind for the day.

Ahhh got ya.
So if you are in a blind and someone comes up and says you gotta go, you gotta show them a card before they leave?

You're under no obligation to show anyone but a Wildlife Officer your card.

Only if you want someone to get out of your blind. ;)
True but I'm referring to a situation where you're already in a blind. The person pulling up and asking to see your card doesn't have to be shown anything unless he's a Wildlife Officer and shows you his ID.

Incorrect according to the Rules and Regulations:

(e) The permittee, who is the person to whom the Agency issued the permit, must occupy
his/her blind by the legal daily opening shooting time on days he/she wishes to hunt,
and if the blind is unoccupied at that time by the permittee, the first person or party
occupying said blind shall be entitled to the privilege of its exclusive and uninterrupted
use until the end of the shooting hours of that day. Exclusive and uninterrupted use
entitles the person or party to the right to exclude all others from the blind, at the
person's or party's option, except for law enforcement personnel engaged in the
performance of their duties. The permittee has priority use (exclusive and uninterrupted
use) only if he/she is at the blind on or before the legal daily opening shooting time,
regardless of whether or not the blind is occupied by another person or party, provided
the permittee produces identification and his/her blind permit.

Nothing in the Rule states that the permittee only has to show an officer identification and the blind permit.
