I have one acre of recently cleared land (cleared since Feb.) Once cleared I dumped 1 ton of lime on the ground. East tennessee ground. My question is what should I plant? I have some ideas................what you guys think?

I was thinking along those lines BFO and wheat. I also have some greens to mix in.

I have always waited till september. Why wait is it the rainfall amount?

yes rainfall amount for 1 and heat for 2 if your planting something like chickory that goes semi-dormant in the heat (makes them nice in drought years though). You might be a little lite on lime as well. I would put out anouther ton and then plant rr soybeans and if they get hammered who cares. You need some time for weed control b4 planting a perrenial or you run a risk of ruining your crop overtaken by weeds. With the heavy acorn crop on you should concentrate on preping the plot so when the acorns are gone you have tender and desirable plants to eat. Probably be Nov before we see large numbers coming to the fields. Just my opinion

This year I dont think rain will be a problem where I am. However that could change. Would heat damage BFO if planted this weekend?
