Anybody weed whip lanes for hunting?

Would be a lot of whipper snippin to get wide enough and long lanes.
I do it every season. Not only weed whip but also snips. I clear trails through thickets, cut shooting lanes, remove overgrowth around scrapes, etc. It's just part of it for me same as scouting, hanging stands, and everything else. I put a lot of work into my hunting areas and believe it plays a huge role in my success rate.

Man, I thought weed whipping was a northern term. Never heard it called that until my yankee coworker mentioned it.

No we dont weedeat trails. Anything like that we do with a tractor and bushhog. We do any major limb trimmings in February or March when we move our permanent stands. Then in the fall its easier just a quick trim with a pole saw or chainsaw. I dont hunt in early season any more though. Earliest I'll hunt is a cold front in mid October that also helps with any of those weed most of the time weather has them down.

Never heard of weed whipping in my life.
I always heard it called a weed whip.
I've heard my wife call them a Lively Lad and she was raised in
Tennessee. I call them a swing blade.

They make a weed wiper. Loaded with herbicide and wiped on weeds you want killed. They make hand held ones and ones to pull behind 4 wheelers and tractor mounted.

Weed wacker or weed eater - gas or battery powered.
I'm 55 and remember the lively lad.
Also remember my dads first electric weed eater and the 100+ cord he drug all over the yard....but never heard of a weed whipper?...is that the northern version of a lively lad?
But most of our trails are bush hogged and some areas are spot sprayed...and pruning shears are used for limbs hanging into the path.

This or some variation of this is what I've always known as a weed whip or swing blade.
Yep. Weed eaters all but replaced weed whips for trimming edges and mowing ditches. I even use a saw blade on mine for trimming low branches and saplings.
But when im making trails or clearing out lanes in the woods I almost always use a weed whip. It's manual labor but it's not difficult, and doesn't weigh much or require bringing fuel or swapping between string and blade. I use a weed whip to cut briers, vines, thumb size saplings and branches, as well as tall weeds all with one lightweight tool. Actually I carry snips and a folding saw in my backpack. Between those three manual tools I've cut an awful lot of trails and small openings in thickets that would have taken longer and been more labor with a weed eater.

I got one of those. Never heard it called a weed whipper. They are pretty awesome though.
I've got one of these passed down from my dad. Probably from the 50s. I can remember him help cut grandpa's yard with it in the 50s. I'll have to look to see if there is a label on it.
We called those lively lads.
I just never heard that term down here. My wife from Tn remembers them called that.
Off the subject, I was watching an episode of " The Rifleman" the other day and Lucas said "I need to buy some barb wire and fence staples." Made me think of the staple-steeple discussion here.

I use a weed whip for clearing in front of my trail-cams. HATE having one or two weeds standing, blowing in the wind, and triggering my camera a thousand times in a week!
