I feel bad for the youth hunters, but for me (not having kids) I guess a weekend break to knock out the honey-do list before rut kicks in couldn't have come with better weather.

In my area (Montgomery/Dickson Counties) we have turned stupid dry. I put out $200 worth of seed, guess the birds have something to pick at. Our pastures are drying up too, we will be feeding hay about a month before we planned. Still not as bad as SE TN though.

My granddaughter and I will hunt the mornings doubtful we hunt the afternoons. Hope she can get one she said today I always kill deer when she doesn't go :pray:

Although it will be hot, I have more confidence in the deer coming into the cornfield we will be hunting in the evenings vs mornings but we will see. My plan is to hunt Saturday morning and evening and Sunday evening. Cant make it that morning. Good luck to you and your granddaughter!!

I am in Cleveland (Bradley Co) and Friday morning when it rained a little I was fired up!! Even though that was my drawed ML hunt. We cant buy a rain!!! :bash:
 
If these models hold true, this weekend will be horrible and opening weekend of ML morning temps do not look much better. Except I think I saw where they were calling for highs in the upper 60's, so the afternoons should be better, but that is still warmer than I'd like.
 
Going to be the hottest Juvie hunt I've ever taken kids on. As dry as it is, I plan to set my kids up on a shooting house on the dam of a pond. Only expecting movement in the first hour of daylight and the last 30 minutes before dark. Very unlikely the older bucks will be roaming this early in the season with such high temps, but my fingers are crossed!

My hunting is actually better during a drought, as most of my food sources are native browse such as greenbrier and coralberry/ buckbrush which are fairly drought hardy. The food plots I put in have completely failed, but so have everyone else's around me, so that's a wash.
 
I was looking forward to the 1st Oak Ridge hunt. Then I saw minimal sign. Now looking at the temps I'm quite discouraged. Still gonna go and hopefully sit all day. I will say I saw a 6pt walking through my neighborhood at lunch.
 
Totally disgusted with this weather, especially no rain. man I am not a warm weather deer hunting fan at ALL>
