Not sure whats going on at my place ! Nephew and I had a great hunt this morning seeing around 40 deer. We managed to tag team a couple of mature does about 10:00, we did the ol' 1-2-3 bang flop job !!

As far as rutting action I am confused !! I hunted everyday the first week of muzzle loader and only saw one buck chasing a doe with mostly buck sightings and very few sighting of does, that is the norm and usually when I am able to kill a good buck to which they are usually chasing HARD.

I have hunted everyday since opening rifle except one evening (hard rain) and yesterday shot the 9pt following a yearling doe. This morning we saw around 40-45 deer with a couple 8pts chasing a young doe but not really hard. Still seeing bucks grouped up and mature does grouped as well and have yet to see a really mature buck or any buck chasing a mature doe.

I honestly don't thing the rut is in full swing at my place yet and that is way behind for my place. I could be wrong but either way we're having a great time other than trespassers !!
This is river bottom ground btw.

I hunt in Obion co and the rut is way behind this year. It usually gets going good around opening week of muzzleloader. Just started seeing scrapes about a couple of weeks ago. very wired this year compared to most.
Are you hunting Obion river bottoms?

Yes I am, my North boundary is the Obion River! It has been a strange year as far as the rut goes for me, glad to see I am not alone in these parts!

I'm also hunting the obion river bottoms and it has been very sparse chasing that we have seen. Have had 1 morning where a mature deer was seen really chasing a doe. Other than that we have seen some real young deer following does but not seen the heavy chasing activity that is the norm for this farm over the last 2 weeks.
I also hunt in northern weakley county and have not seen much there either however this is normal for this area. I have noted the heaviest movement of chasing in the 2nd and 3rd weeks of December here.

Weird I hunt Weakley county. Had scrape lines and rubs November 3rd and same morning seen 5 bucks and chasing. Sunday the 16th during the morning seen a little buck chasing, and 2 hours later killed my 10 point that was 2 steps behind a doe. At that time i don't believe they were full swing. That 10 point hadn't been running much as he was still covered in loads of fat.

I hunt a river bottom area, I see a lot of what I call tending does that means he is checking and lip curling as she moves he moves. As far as chasing hard limbs popping in the wouldst the only thing I have seen is smaller bucks.I have seen one 3.1/2 yr old checking a doe and staying with her, I just don't think it here yet on our farm.

Killed 2 does this week in Dresden. Good week for me since this is the only week of the year I get to hunt. I saw mature does grouped together with no young does. I did not see a single buck all week. I watched several does in the fields for a while before shooting to make sure no bucks were behind them. Based on what I saw I don't think the rut is ramped up here yet.

Yes this is what I've seen also. Usually, just after the young bucks doing all the tending/following of does we will see the big boys start showing up and singling the does out. However, I have not seen this activity in the bottoms yet.
Not saying I haven't seen "chasing" I have seen the young bucks. But have yet to see the mature bucks really getting after it.
