We always have a large watermelon patch and the deer will eat a few of the leaves off the vines but not that many. I spend most of my time trying to keep the groundhogs out.

Doc, my experience is that deer love watermelon patches. I grow a coupld acres of watermelon every year and the deer are in it every night. They like eating the leaves on the vines. Here is a picture of a nice buck that has been in my watermelon patch every night for the last couple of weeks. I just tilled the watermelon patch under this week and will try some late season corn (Florida)
