Water Levels Dropping

At least on Norris & Cherokee. Lakes never did quite reach summer pool and have started dropping in June. Going to be awful low this fall & winter.

They are idiots, aren't they captain hook? But for about $3 a day I can stay cool in the summer, cook, take warm showers, play on this puter, and much more and do the same in the winter except it is about $5 and I stay warm and take hot showers.

When we are not in a drought the lakes generally get full and stay full til Labor Day. When there is very little water coming in, you shouldn't expect them to be able to keep it at a high level and generate too.

I know and I think TVA has lost their mind especially on CHerokee. They are running it full bore almost around the clock when power demand isn't that high and cool water isn't really needed down stream. It makes no sense, and as usual they will be whining by August about not having any water. Wonder why, idiots ran it all out during early summer.

You don't have a clue about what it takes to manage a drop of water to a certain end. If a drop falls here, it's effect is felt elsewhere.

Funny stuff seeing how I was on a conference call today with members of TVA where the very things I said were mentioned by people within their organization. But naturally I don't have a clue and neither do others who actually have a hand in this stuff on a daily basis.

Really? Name some names.

Trout in Cherokee Tailwaters are an experiment at best. I know some like to fish for them, but its a PG&T fishery. Not a viable fishery for most of the year.

The issue is TVA running excessive amounts of water out of Cherokee and leaving Douglas off rather then balancing the load to lessen the effects of pool shrinkage.

Huge difference all right. Cherokee is scheduled to drop about 5 inches over the next three days and Douglas only about 3 inches. Actually it is .4 on Cherokee and .2 on Douglas. Not a whole lot of difference.

I see the words Labor Day and no mention of August.

TVA, like the Corps, does not set their water management plans while worrying about a few fish. While recreation is part of the equation, it is not priority #1.

I doubt Cherokee produces enough electricity to do much good anyway. The drawn down of the those lakes is what feeds the much larger powerhouses on the TN River. Keeping levels down here at normal pools is much more important that keeping those small lakes at normal pools. Mainly for navigation interests and what little power is produced by the hydros.

Maybe I should call Wheeler and tell them to shut off those units running right now (0850) so they can run them later this evening during the fishing tournament.

Shopson, I would chew your stuff to pieces but really do not have the energy to discuss something with someone who does not know how to interpret the data that they posted or what it means besides at face value.

Uh, it ain't my stuff. Maybe you should get on another conference call with your friends at the TVA and either have them update their website or stop putting false info on it.

Ya gotta love a pissin' contest on a fishing forum. To those that are confident enough to forward "horse's mouth" conversations, please state your position with whatever entity that allows such information to be pissed on in an open forum. If TWRA guys can identify themselves, thus opening themselves up to catching spears, surely anyone else can. I can't help but think someone gets their jollies by withholding information that would end the nonsense. If you can't state your position, at least zip it and let others flounder in their delusions. Just sayin'.
