I've seen pictures of deer with warts or something like tumors a number of times before. I know I've seen some articles on the NDA newsletter that comes out each week. I had never personally seen a deer with warts or tumors until this week. I saw several neighborhood deer and at least two of them that had growths. One Young Buck in particular had a tumor the size of a golf ball on his neck. These are neighborhood deer. Just wondered if anyone else has noticed them this year when they haven't previously. Kind of wondering if it's a 2023 thing or just a local thing where I am in Hamilton County Tennessee.

I killed one a few years ago that was covered up with them. The consensus on here was...safe to eat.

Basically, same virus as human warts. Does no harm to the deer unless the warts block their vision or mouth.

Seen a few deer that had them over the years. Had one here one season that looked miserable. I have also had one cow that got warts, she actually cleared them and continued having calves until she got too old.

My dad and I came across those on a few deer from time to time in South Central Alabama over the years. We always heard safe to eat.
