Anyone have one? Thoughts?

It's on my list of possible next purchases.. but I haven't got my hands on one yet.

Think I've narrowed it to:

Walther PPS (.40)
Glock 36
S&W M&P Compact (.40)

I also plan on buying a S&W 642, possibly tomorrow. I've been wanting one forever and just keeeep putting it off.

I had one and wasnt impressed. Accuracy was OK but not great. Its a little heavy for its size, and for some reason the gun just plain hurts to shoot. It tends to bite the web of your hand...its the only handgun I have ever shot that does that to me. I sold it to get a S&W model 638 Airweight, I like it much better.

Went to a gun store here in Raleigh today to snoop around. Holy cow.. prices were through the roof!

A standard Walther PPS .40 & 9mm were $779. They were not first editions or anything extraordinary. They were the exact same as I could get across town for $600.

So after that price tag scared me off, I checked out the Glock 36 with standard sights.. not night sights.... $689 !!!!!!!!!!!!

let me repeat that....

$689 !!!!!!!!!!!

I know of at least 3 places within an hour where I can get one for less than $550 out the door, tax & all.

Their S&W 642 was $520. The place across town has them for just $379 a couple months ago.

Every single gun they had was almost $100 over priced. The sad thing is, they were selling them left and right. They had 5 tables set up in the middle of the store to sit down and fill out paperwork, and every one of them was full with at least 2 people waiting to sit down. I couldn't believe it..

Lots of selection, but horrible prices. I won't be back!

The 642 is a neat little weapon. You'll enjoy it. Just be sure to get a glove for extended range sessions. It'll bite you after a while.

Sorry I don't know anything about the Walther.
