3 days and I'm off to Onieda Lake in New York for the walleye opener. :D By far the best eating fresh water fish you can catch. Anybody else ever go up north to get after the big "eyes"?

Yes. I have fished Onieda several times. Caught a boat load and a bunch through the ice. I normally go up to NY and fish walleye and hunt turkeys but I found both here in TN. Get back with me. I sent ya a PM.

i couldn't disagree more. crappie, trout, catfish, bluegills are all better than walleye. i have been known to cut them things up for bait so i could catch something worth eating. ;)

never understood the yankee fish "seasons" either.

also tellico, norris, center hill and most of the area reservoirs have walleyes.

What's to understand about the walleye season? They close it for 2 months to let them spawn. What's the mystery? Also, you're doing something wrong it you don't think they taste good.

:D naw. they just taste like they smell. too fishy.

but why close the season?

Walleye are definitely some fine eating! Crappie and bluegill are a close second! I used to go to Lake Erie when I was growing up and catch them.

IMHO.....Walleye are the best freshwater fish to eat!
