Walleye cheaters....

Just watched a youtube deal and they are saying the one dude that just stood there saying nothing already has a court date for a domestic violence charge.
Sounds like a great guy all the way around.

here is a twist, they seized his boat. said boat was used in the commission of a crime. pretty smart on the DA's part. i dont think they can do that in TN unless its a felony now thanks to john stevens.

Anytime money is involved, you will have dirt bags trying to find a scam to get it.

If convicted they should seize their boat and all their gear.

With a that many fishermen, many that are probably pro's, standing around; I'm surprised it took that long to catch them.

I wondered about this too, as the fish were clearly dead.

The way I understand it they routinely catch them deep, like 70', and they won't live.
I also "heard" the cheaters never donate their fish.

Most things I've read seem to say this is also deadly. I've always argued it gave the fish a better chance than watching them float away in the surface.

They now make devices to help release fish that have barotrauma. Hook the fish to it and drop them down and it releases them at a preset depth.

I believe the difference between 2nd place and 1st place winnings would constitute a felon... I might be wrong but a felony theft is $500 or more in most places...

I read somewhere else that you don't have to keep them alive, and some guys put them strait on ice and don't even use livewells.

i believe some of those guys at the weigh in said they were catching them at 72 feet which would cause the benz. main reason i dont fish for sauger in the summer at 60 feet. they make a weighted clip that you attach to the fishes mouth, sink it back to the bottom and then give it a jerk to release the fish. supposedly it works very well to release short fish.

Back in the 90s, was bank fishing for crappie at Watts Bar. Met a guy fishing down the bank. We coversed as fisherman do, and he casually commented that he was fishing for a weekend tournament and had two 4# bass in a basket at home. Won't say his name, but he later became a tournament leader and sometimes winner on the BASS circuit, one here locally. That is one of many reasons why I never got into tournaments. Not saying everybody body cheats, but the opportunity is there.

I agree. I do like the way they do the kayak tournaments though. Put the fish on a measuring board with your tourney number, take a pic and release. They go by length, not weight.

Fishing Lake Michigan for yellow perch, their air bladders would come out their throat.

He cut a couple inches out of the middle of his measuring board and put it back together. This way he gained 2 inches on every fish he caught.
Finally got caught when someone noticed his board didn't look right and the director measured it.

Seems like I remember that.
There are scum in every area of every competition no matter what it is.

If the fishing community wants them stopped, they should be stopped. But stopping tournaments for all involved because of cheaters isn't right. If they are committing a crime; arrest them. I mean let's face it, they are weighing and measuring fish, how hard can it be?

Kind of sounds like the liberal response to guns and criminals, don't it? Some criminals are committing crimes with guns, therefore, we should take guns away from everyone.
