Visual barrier?

Was Thinking of using Leyland Cypress for a visual barrier,but then I thought,why not Sawtooth oaks?The leaves stay on all year,and they will eventually produce food for the deer.This is really just for me,its not near a road,just a commoun border with a neighbor,who has given me no trouble.

Any other thoughts,something I havent thought of?

i agree... i would go with something that will feed.. might as well.

The sawtooths will work for a while till they get big. Also you will be drawing deer to your property line. The leyland cypress grow fast and spread out nice.

I would be concerned about a visual barrier that actually attracts deer to it. That would be counter-productive.

I usually use a mixture of loblolly and white pine to produce visual barriers. The loblolly grows fast and makes the first barrier, but as the loblolly grows taller--above the visual barrier stage--the white pine will have grown tall enough to produce a secondary barrier.
