Cell phone pic makes it look a half a mile away, lol, but it is 369 yards to the wood line at the top of the hill. I can see another 350 behind me so I am covering 700 yards give or take and that is why this spot is so good during the rut. I don't hunt here with my muzzleloader much but come Saturday I will be there with the .338.

I use to have a tree stand at the top but I'm getting older and don't want to have to climb to the top anymore, lol. Plus this spot cuts my possible shot distance in half. This is where I killed one at 455 yards before.

I wish i had an area like that on my place. The longest possible shot on my place would be around 160 yds. Average shot would be around 50yds.
Hope you get to whack one with the .338.

we have cattle on it, there just not in the pic. They were down the hill behind me at the time. 21 head on this side of the road and another 20 on the other side. We always keep it cut off but the clutch on the tractor went out in the summer and dad is looking for another tractor but he is dragging his feet, lol.

exactly the type of place that I rifle hunt. During the rut, the mature bucks will cross that opening just like it was thick cover when the dingy 1.5y/o doe in heat pulls them.

family farm and I have hunted since I was big enough to hunt, so 27 years now. killed a ton here. i have killed at least 1 8pt or better here every year for 14 years now. saw a great deer during juvy but to far for the girl to be shooting.
