awesome video and buck, I was up there Nov 3-11. Weather sucked that week and I dont think the rut was on then either, alittle early. We seen a few deer and two big shooters just couldnt close the deal. Congrats on a fine buck...

I was there for 3 days the last weekend of October, 3 days in the first weekend of November and 8 days from the 11th-19th. I can say without a shadow of a doubt we were too late for where we were. I was fortunate enough to take the two trips beforehand which had me in a place to kill on the first morning. The first two trips, especially the second were much better for deer movement. Had serious chasing on both of those trips. We had great weather the 11th-19th and it absolutely died after the 13th but the only great day for movement was the 11th for all of us. Just my observation for making 3 trips

Congrats and Thanks for sharing!! I'd much rather watch videos like this than anything on TV......without a doubt!

How high were you in the tree? Looks you were a ways up!

I absolutely was! Even though I watched/heard him crash, the lack of blood and not being able to find him after 2.5 hours was wearing on me. I started second guessing myself. Now, once I got back to the hotel and watched/listened to the full video and heard him crash again, I felt somewhat better. It was just too thick to be body searching in the dark.

It's just anxiousness, especially if you've ever lost a deer or good deer before. When you shoot a great buck like that, you just want to get your hands on him.

s

I was pretty high but the looks are a little deceiving. I was around 28ish feet but the creek bottom was probably 40-50 foot below me because I was on the ridge slightly. Another factor is I had the camera zoomed out completely because I was making sure I got it on film, I was twisted up pretty bad. The shot opportunity was completely behind me so I had the camera wrapped all the way around the right side of the tree yet I was shooting off the left.

When I said it was a damn miracle I got anything on film, that Was a very true statement

Thanks for watching it everyone. I'm so glad I was able to share this special hunt with so many. That's the whole reason I carry a 40lb pack into the woods (60lbs with climber). It doesn't always work out but when it does, it's really special to be able to share it. Sure I wish I could have got the shot better but self filming is tough.

Those of you that enjoyed it, if you have a YouTube/Google account, subscribe to the channel. I only have two videos but I'm going to really try to get more up in the future. I'll continue to share them here though

Sorry I do not have a YouTube account or I would gladly subscribe but looking forward to watching more of your videos!!
Yourself and Catman need to team up and start producing some videos!! That would be some awesome watching!!
Congrats again and thanks for sharing.

Congrats on a world class buck. Very difficult to self film like that but you did a great job. I heard the buck crash on video so I knew he was done for but they are never yours until you get a tag on them. Glad you got him!
