Had a buttin buck walk up last night at 6:30 ate acorns for awhile then layed down 25 yards in front of me i had told my self it was to little so i called a buddy of mine and told him about the deer,with the deer still in front of me at 25yards he talked me in to shooting it and i was goin to but i stood up and gave him a couple (mehhs) but he never moved then i kicked my latter stand a couple of time but to my suprise he still never moved so i hollered (hey) at it a couple time then it stood up but it was standing straight toward me so i didnt have a shot on him then he just kind of walked/trotted away! i dont know if there was somethin wrong with it if it just couldnt see me because it was almost dark by the time i got it to stand. Any body have any opinions on this
 
No, nothing wrong with it. My son shot a buck in a field, we went out to get it, there was one bedded 60 yards from us in some high grass. We gutted the deer, walked back to get the truck, and when we drove back down to the deer to load it, it stood up, watched us load it, then walked away and stopped a 100 yrds or so, and started feeding.
 
Button bucks have been kicked out of ther normal areas by their mothers this time of year. They are used to having mom around to do all the looking for them and they are just stupid now. If they live another couple of weeks alone they'll wise up pretty quick if they don't get killed first.
 
Buddy had a button come up to him and sniff him during squirrel season a few years back. He was tapping on the stock of his gun to get it's attention. It walked right up to him. It sniffed him a few times and turned and walked away.

Yup. I had one bed down under my tree one time. I had to break branches off the tree I was in and throw them down onto his head to get him to leave.

As we hit the peak of breeding, does will temporarily chase away their fawns while the does are in estrus. I've had these temporarily "orphaned" fawns actually run right up to me as I'm walking through the woods. I guess they thought I looked like their mother! ;)
