Very interesting gas milage observation

I am gonna round the number so as to make it easier to type. :D

I fill up with gas, buy my beer, everything at one store. That is until a few weeks ago when they made me mad and I ain't been back.

I used to trade at a place called 3J's and they sell Exxon I believe... dont' sound right but anyway there ya go
So, I started buying my gas at Pockets. They sell Shell gasoline.
I have no idea of the ethanol content.

I get 150 miles from a tank of gas, about 55mpg.
Three fill ups ago I filled up at Pockets. When I hit reserve I checked my odometer (habit now) and it said 124 miles. :confused:
Figured for the first time ever I just forgot to reset my trip counter.
The next tank full I got again at Pockets, when I burned my leg, ;) and went on.
The next time I hit reserve I checked it and it said 126 miles.
What in the world is going on here???

Last tank I was in Martin and bought it at Hucks. I have no idea what type of gas they sell.
Hit reserve this morning and when I stopped at Hucks to get more gas it read, 149 miles.

That is more like it. :D



Just thought that was wild that ethanol content ( I assume that is the cause ) can make that much difference.
Or is there another cause I don't know about?
Style of driving ain't it, I ride the same all the time. :D

i have read that you can look for a 30% decrease in milage using the ethanol 90% ,somebody might be leaning the gas out a little more saving them money ,i need to ask my son as he has a van that is dual fuel & see if the milage changes that much,i know it will smoke the tires if your not careful though :) ,mike243

I wont buy anything inless i have to at 3j's The guy that owns it is an @@@hole. He got pissed at me and another guy that i work with when we wouldnt give him credit on a leaking blue rhino bottle you big retard we are amerigas not blue rhino he yelled got pissed off and treated us like crap if i wouldnt have been afraid of losing my job i would have let him have it so i figure at least i can hit him in his pocket book since i cant in the mouth.

Talked to my father in law last night and he said that the place by Wendy's, "Hunters One Stop" sells gas with no ethanol.

I am gonna give them a tank and see what that does. :D

I haven't seen any place around here that doesn't have ethanol in thier gas.

Just remember if you run that ethanol crap in your tank run some injector cleaner every 6 weeks or so and keep a good filter on the fuel system. I go to Sunoco for my fuel in the bike and run high octane only.
