What would be the minimal muzzle velocity one would need to kill a deer at a reasonable distance out of a 50 cal muzzle loading pistol?
With a good handgun bullet, I thinks that's a pretty good minimum but I'd lean more towards the 1200 fps mark or slightly over and I'd keep shots well under 50 yards. If you can tolerate the recoil and the pistol is capable, I'd push it a bit faster and/or go up in bullet weight.larry ipock":3da6c7fk said:I would think a 200 gr. bullet or ball at at least 1000-1200 fps out to 50 yds.
