What would be the minimal muzzle velocity one would need to kill a deer at a reasonable distance out of a 50 cal muzzle loading pistol?

I would think a 200 gr. bullet or ball at at least 1000-1200 fps out to 50 yds. My .02.
With a good handgun bullet, I thinks that's a pretty good minimum but I'd lean more towards the 1200 fps mark or slightly over and I'd keep shots well under 50 yards. If you can tolerate the recoil and the pistol is capable, I'd push it a bit faster and/or go up in bullet weight.

Out of curiosity I called Western Powders, up they agreed that was a heck of a spread. The powder was put in the can in 2013 and may be getting a little old if I haven't taken good care of it and the can is getting low witch it is. He did say it would probably be OK for my purpose witch is to carry to finish a deer off. On the other hand I don't have a lot of powder left in the can and just as well buy me another can and see what it does. I may try to kill another deer with it like I did a few years ago.
