I'm thinking its between the Winchester 55gr. Ballistic silvertip and the Hornady 58gr. v-max superperformance for my .243 Rem. model700. It's a youth model but I killed my first deer with it and love to shoot it. Still need to do some shooting and was wanting a few more ammunition suggestions.

My first dedicated varmint rifle was a Remington 700 243 with a sporter barrel. I loaded the 60gr Sierra hollow points with decent accuracy and performance. I tried the 70gr ballistic tip next and that is what I stuck with until I sold the rifle. I had more confidence in it than I did the Sierra HP. If the 58 v-max or 55gr ballistic tip was around when I was loading 243's, I would have tried them without hesitation. I am hearing on other boards that the ballistic tip will hold together a little better than the vmax on coyote sized game, but I have not experienced it personally.

Moe i thought that rifle was a model seven? Need to get some of whatever you choose to use before we head back down. I'd love to practice that 400yd shot a little more.

Winchester would be a great choice. I dont have a 243, but I shoot them thru my ar and 308. They have awesome groups and do some devastating damage.

the factory 55g BT from winchester run 3910fps,they group really good in my rifle.never had the chance to try them out but always carry a couple just in case :)

Thanks everyone. Seems like the winchesters are the overwhelming winner.
Bob, you may be right i think it is a 7. I will get some before we go down, I like to have another 400 yarder on that doe. But we will do some target shooting too. Ready for them yotes.

The 58 gr Vmax is flat out nasty on ground hogs, I would love to see one work on a yote. I am going to work on a handloaded 87 gr Vmax for a yote load.

55grain ballistic tips are bad news for yotes.
They do some major damage. Will make it tough on a taxidermist if you want one mounted. I like how flat they shoot.

I shot a yote this year using a down-loaded 95 gr SST that I worked up for my grandaughter's deer hunting. (32.0 g H4895 @ 2570 fps) It did a great job on the deer, and not-too-bad an exit hole on this coyote:
