I started predator hunting last year and have probably been 6 times, maybe 25 sets. I've tried about 8 different locations all over the 1850 acres. I called in a bobcat on the day after cat season last year and have called in owls and red-tail hawks. Otherwise, nothing. I've got trail cam pics. out the wazoo of coyotes and gray foxes. I'm wondering why I can't call in a yote.
Aside from location, my only guess is that my calling is all wrong. I've got a Johnny Stewart Preymaster with 3 cartridges (12 calls). Only about 6 or 7 calls are applicable. I just do one after the other without any downtime - baby rabbit, rodent, distressed rabbit, distressed flicker, distressed turkey, distressed fawn, etc. and finish up with some yote howling at the end when I figure it's useless. I stay at each spot about 35 minutes.
So should I just do the distressed rabbit for 30 minutes instead of switching calls a bunch? Should I be pausing for a while every once in a while? I have no idea about timing and sequence. I'm about to give it up. Help.
