Hi all. Pondering the purchase of a TC Encore from a friend of mine. The gun has been shot maybe 10 times and is in great condition. Here are the specs:

TC Encore 50 Cal Muzzeloader black thumbhole stock 1.75x6 Leupold Vari x3 Scope Bought new in 2006.

Can you guys give me an estimated value with scope and without scope? Thanks.

buying great condition guns is a good way to save some serious money.
I shopped and bought my ML, and bow off the net.

One thing I noticed is that ML's do not hold their value well at all. Not nearly as well as a rifle or a bow. All makers, except possibly the Savage. I did not shop prices on it.
Not sure why this is, but if you shop it, you can buy at 40-50% of new.

Thanks for the input thus far. Gun is in great condition. He has not priced it to me yet but we are going to talk about it Wednesday. You guys are affirming the prices I had in mind which makes me feel better.

Spoke to my friend. He wants $550 for the gun and that includes the scope mount (rings and scope not included). I think I am going to offer $450 and that be the max I go.

I bought an Omega with SS barrel camo stock, Nikon Omega Scope, 2 boxes of 777 pellets, bag of sabots, primers, TC cleaning products, plug wrench, jag.
All was in great condition for $ 450. Delivered by a Tndeer forum member.

May help you in making a deal.

Wow, that is a great deal. I know the Omega alone is in that ballpark brand new. That is the exact setup I had been thinking about getting. I do like the flexibility of the Encore with being able to use different barrels.

I would say 500-550.00
I love my Encore and will never shoot anything else.
Im not trying to promote TC but my Encore shoots as well as
any of my rifles at 100 yrds

I wouldnt take 450.00 for mine.
What he said. I love my encore so much I bought another frame so I don't have to switch the mz barrel out with the .243 all the time. I hunt public land where rifles aren't allowed and it was a pain if I hunted both public and private in the same day.

What does he want with the scope? You may be able to buy the package and sell the scope on eBay...the suggested $100 - $150 bump with scope included sounds like a great deal to me...$150 for a practically new VX-III. That's a good power mix for a ML, too. I have a 2-7X33 Leopold on mine, and I rarely take it off 4 power.

Update, bought the gun for $475 to include a Leupold scope mount. The gun looks brand new. Very happy with the purchase. He told me he gave $680 for it brand new. Always wanted a TC Encore so I am fired up to shoot it. Next step is the scope purchase. About to submit another post on that.

Thanks all for the input.

That's a great buy... in fact, your friend got it at a great deal for only $680 brand new.

Last year, they had a phenominal closeout on TC prohunter mL's. I ended up buying 3 at $499 plus tax. One I sold to a member here on TNdeer at cost. Another one I kept for myself. A third I sold the Stock, forearm and barrel for $400 on the net... which put me into an extra stainless prohunter frame for around $125.

As far as the scope, I've got a lesser priced burris fullfield II 3-9x40 w/ ballistic plex scope on mine. It works great for ML ranges, and the plex reticle is wonderful for the drop of a ML. I could afford to spend more, but just don't see the need on that particular gun.
