I ran out of bullets and primers today and haven't been able to find what I've been shooting. The rifle isn't nearly ready to go but I need to go with something different loadwise. Any suggestions on a Knight MK85 50 caliber?

I killed a pile of deer with the Hornady 240 gr. XTP and 100 gr. of black powder or two Pyrodex pellets in the MK85. I usually used a TC two-piece sabot with those XTPs, but I don't think TC makes them any more. I think the MMP short black sabot whould work as well. I used the 209 primers.

What combination have you been shooting?

The load scn mentioned was a shooter/deer killer in most of the older Knights I shot, and it is very economical if you shoot a lot. I was going to recommend basically the same combo with 100 grains of Pyrodex, a Hornady 250 grain .452 XTP and a MMP short black sabot. I have the 50 caliber MMP short black sabots on hand if you need any. Avery Outdoors in Memphis should have them in stock as well. I posted a few links below that may be of use to you Mike as I once frequented them when I shot Knight MZers.

I've purchased but never shot/used these, but have read great things about them over the years. You may could give them a call and see if they have a recommended load for your setup. Just a thought.

I use Hornady xtp 240 gr. saboted with 90 gr. 777 with good results in my Mk85.
