Irregardless of the buck bag limits, I keep reading a lot of remarks saying that unit b can't support anymore deer. I've heard that remark for years but yet the deer herd keeps expanding. Fact is there are still places at least in upper east Tn. that have no deer that can support deer. So I don't believe we here in unit b are near our carrying capacity like areas in units a&l are. It's very evident if you've lived in this area for any length of time. I can remember the only places that held deer was the CNF. Now my daughter regularly has several in their yard and she lives in Johnson City city limits. Still lots of rural land around here that hasn't reached it's potential. Nor has the CNF, some selective clearcutting would do wonders for it IMO.

Unit B is not at or near carrying capacity for whitetail deer. Honestly you would never want to reach true carrying capacity, the problems both Biological and economic would be immense. Carrying capacity in managed tracts and ranches can be artificially increased and there can be problems with that as well. The thing about carrying capacity is it can in theory change dramatically from year to year depending on temperature, precipitation, and mast crop success/failure.
