Daughter and I put in for unit 77,78 for mule deer in Colorado. Don't know if we'll get drawn and still early but wanted to see if anyone has hunted these areas for deer and any suggestions (or things/areas to avoid). Not looking for the biggest buck (although would take) but more of an overall experience. Good places to camp (or not), good resources to study ahead of time, etc. Thanks.

I haven't hunted there, but hunted close (west of pagosa) . Lots of Deer in those units. If able you may as well buy OTC elk tag while your there. Lots of hunters too, but plenty of land to get away from others.

Some tools I like using when researching

CO Hunting Atlas
https://ndismaps.nrel.colostate.edu/ind ... ntingAtlas

A good national forest map website
https://www.fs.fed.us/ivm/index.html

And a good site (need free account) that lists prop/owners/info
https://www.acrevalue.com/plat-map/CO/A ... 934&zoom=9

If you get drawn, reach out to me. I elk hunted 77 last year, close to the Weimenuche Valley. We hunted around the Piedra River and northwest of the river. I did see a 160-165 inch Mulie one day while out walking.
