U guys still running trailcams... question?

What are you sitting at as far as percentage of deer that have dropped antlers?

Would like to hear a couple of you KY guys chime in

I've only had 1 buck as of recent that has dropped 1 side... I'm only running 3 cams on 36 acres that I live on so I'm getting the same bucks on camera multiple times a week..

I haven't got any bucks on cam since deer season, it's been a bit difficult for me. Plenty of does though. As thick as it is in there I should be able to find the bucks but who knows they may have gone elsewhere for a while.

I hear some bucks are dropping but not many yet. 2 weeks ago I saw a small buck with 1 side missing.

Ran 4 cameras for the last 2 weeks and had 15 different bucks only one had dropped his horns.

Good info guys, maybe we could keep this thing rolling with updates over the next few weeks for the people that are wanting to get out and pick sheds. Seems like there are several threads every year of this nature

I will let you know tomorrow when I pull my cards. I spread 100 lbs of corn out in front of each camera to do my post season survey so I should have quite a few pics.

When I had year round land in Wisconsin, I ran my cameras year round.

If anything I love looking at pics of deer, bucks, does or fawns. We'd use the pics to see how active the bears were on the property.

Most bucks in Stewart Co. are still carrying their antlers, while a few have shed. I found a small, single fresh shed this past Monday, and I think it had been dropped about a week earlier. It was definitely from a yearling buck. Last year I found a matching pair (from a 3 1/2-yr-old) in late February, found one in the afternoon, and the buck came back and shed his other side during the night (picked it up the next morning).

I usually see a couple drop antlers in mid to late February, but the vast majority hold their antlers until March or even into early April IF the local population is healthy. If they are not healthy--or worse yet, extremely stressed--than anything is possible.

I worked with an extremely over-populated and unhealthy herd in westcentral GA, and the vast majority of the bucks would drop their antlers by mid-December. Once herd health was dramatically improved, those same bucks would hold their antlers until March.

After we had that buck just stand there and stare at us the other day (which never happens IN season) you know I had to go hang a camera there and see if I could get a pic especially since I didn't recognize the buck. He's a nice tall buck wish he had his other g3 but he does have a couple small stickers at the base. It will be interesting to see what he grows this year for sure. As far as sheds go I pulled over 4000 pics yesterday and I've only had 2 bucks drop so far. One 2.5 and a 1.5 buck and both those dropped roughly 2 weeks ago.

Out of six cams I checked this morning all bucks are still holding. Also had a creature on there that appeared to be a cross between a cat and a man, not 100% sure due to a slight blur and bad light but looks like the one Ive seen before

I may be responsible for "big cat" sightings around the county....

You have your cams hidden good, I did not find any of them

I have lots of pics of those 2 bucks that are 2.5 running together in velvet from this year but these are the first I've got of them after season. I'm glad to see they stayed around and made it. The older buck that I'm thinking is 3.5 maybe 4.5 is a new one to me. Hope he stays! Man I've got the fever to start shed hunting!! I just keep hoping to see some bloody holes on their head! Lol

Next time you come through check out a brush pile or two. I also put my climbing gaffs to work as well. Scale up a tree about 10feet and I dont think anyones ever seen it. :grin:
