Looking at those huge deer pics and watching those monarch bucks walking around all day being fat and happy without a fear in the world… I could see the temptation.
 
Glad at least a decent fine is seen for once. They are going to have to get a lot tougher than that to ever slow it down. They BRAG about it where I live.
 
A local guy near me had pics of this buck in 2023 and 2024, and hunted him an untold amount of days last year, even hunted the buck a month after he was shot and killed (he found out those details after the fact). The buck was bigger and more impressive in 2023, had a sizeable home range that crossed a river and covered two counties. Here is the guy with the pic that likely got him more attention than he wanted.

I had a picture in my head of the perp and what would you know…fit the bill to a T. Fat,greasy looking lazy AF Tn MF'er. See em every day of the week on the jobsite.
 
Glad he got the fines he did. Just wish it was that much in fines no matter if it's a doe or how big of a buck it is.

Wonder how he finally got caught? If he was an employee there then the good ol boy system was good for a while until someone got mad?

And this is where I have an issue. The law is written so landowners can grant permission and not be held liable, UNLESS it can be proven that they were willfully negligible. (SCN told me the part on negligence). A place like this could have a waiver of liability drafted for $0 and just have it on file. Make people sign it upon getting the permit in front of someone there or make them get it notarized. problem solved.

My feeling is it is the mamby pamby society we have become that has shut these opportunities down. Issue is, we continue to grow as a population and then you run into stuff like the Hendersonville deer hunting program. Seems to me places like this and some parks around Nashville, Knoxville and Memphis could be great opportunities for some draw hunts, but the crybabies do not want it....

Twra officer recognized the deer and was very familiar with it. Got warrant to check his cell phone "pings" and through the investigation was able to figure out where it killed all three of those deer

I suspect the old saying "loose lips sink ships", possibly jealousy/envy, and the photo I shared here (that was likely leaked), was the perfect storm to get things rolling. The remainder of events played out just as cbhunter stated.
