TWRA boating safety exam

Man told me the other day he wanted to get his boating license.

I got on the site and was finding out how to get the study materials and details on where / when to take the test for him.

I found it and started doing the online study deal.

I have found it to be very informative and I have actually learned quite a bit of stuff already myself.

Having very limited experience in a boat I figured there would be nothing wrong with learning some stuff myself.

I like it and will probably go ahead and take the exam with man when he does it.

I remember reading a comment on here a few days ago questioning why someone would need it if they had been operating a boat for many years. The answer is that it has fairly little to do with actually driving a boat. It primarily deals with safe operation and "Rules of the Road". Even if a person has been around boats all of their life, I would be very surprised if they didn't pick up some knowledge that would lead to safer operation.

There is a list of where you can take the exam on there too.

In union city you can take it at the library by appointment only.

what is a type 600 license? and why do they need that?
do they have to have a license to drive my pontoon or a jet ski?

Bring Social Security Number, black pen, and type 600 license to testing locations. Students can go to any county to take the class or exam.

First, you must be at least 12 years old to take the exam. After studying the boating safety material, you must first purchase, for $10.00, a Type 600 boating safety exam permit from any business (license agent) that sells hunting and fishing licenses (WalMart sporting goods, bait stores, marinas, etc.).

They can drive it without the permit if you, or someone else that is either exempt from the license or already has it is with them.

In order for them to drive it without that, they need the license.
