Two piece rod question

Seems I read something before on something to use to keep two piece rods from coming apart while casting. The rod I'm referring to is a eight ft ugly stik that throws anything from redfins to twelve inch trout. The heavy stuff is when I have problems. Any recommendations?

I avoid them to. not sure about ear wax...I would try bowstring wax

that's what i always used. always available. i don't know any fishermen with bowstring wax in their tackleboxes.

Another thing - when you put the rod together, start with the front piece 90 degrees out of line with the back piece. Push the pieces together and then twist to line up the guides.

This will prevent wear over time from making the front piece slide off the back piece easier.

I probably didn't do a good job of explaining that but hopefully you get what I'm saying.

I hate a 2 piece... but I do have one. When I go somewhere with the wife's car, I have to have a two piece to fish. There's no way I'm going on vacation somewhere and not getting a line wet if there is any way possible.

sometimes it is unavoidable. a 1 piece surf rod 8 ft or longer is impractical for most people.

No doubt. The guys that use to fish the dam on Wateree in SC fished with 12 foot rods. They could throw them a mile and were heavy enough to fight a 60 pound cat with 2 or 3 generators running.

I still hate em! LOL

I "prefer" a one piece as well but I'm not pulling a boat and usually driving a 4runner so eight ft is a little long to haul in a suv. I need the length for long cast so a two piece is what it has to be. Thanks for the advice!
