I'm not a big artifact hunter but have found a few through the years But we are moving to a new house on Watts Bar lake and just wondering what are the rules regulations etc about looking on the bank during winter drawdown. Thanks

I live in the Shoals area and all the water frontage below Wilson Dam that were sites have been rocked. There are sections that do not contain rip rap, but these areas contain nothing in the way of points, etc. I have always been told to NOT pick up anything relic related or I would risk being arrested by TVA police or any LEO available. Folks still dig 7 Mile Island, but it is away from the water and in wooded areas. I do know folks have been arrested there for digging.

True story-About 10 years ago my cousin was hired by TVA to place rip rap on waterfront areas where folks were digging out old camp sites. This was somewhere around Bridgeport, AL. He was using a Trac-hoe loaded on a barge and as he swung the boom over to dump a load of rock, a man came crawling out from under the washed and dug out bank. He was in there digging as my cousin was rocking the bank! There was a chase by the TVA personnel on site supervising him work, but they never were able to catch the old boy. Imagine what might have happened had that load of rock been dumped on him....
