TUSK?

Alright yall I found this today in some dirt that was bulldozed up for a basement, near a creek in the coolsprings/ brentwood area off Murray ln. My question is, does it belong to a hog? How did it end up there? What are your thoughts on it, I just found it weird to find it in an area not known for wild pigs. Its around 3-3.5" long.

sure looks like it but i dunno, I found a tusk on our land one time dad told me a man use to run his hogs there in the 60s so its plausible

Thanks RH, I did ponder the farm idea as well, not sure of the history of that piece of land, very posssible. It appears to be very old almost petrified. I will try and get some better pics up tomorrow.

Where the mall now sits and most of the area around it was a dairy farm. I hunted there for a while. The cool spring was more of a cement pond full of manure. No telling what it was before that.

Stovepipe, it was around 15' deep or so and it was down to clay. I was actually looking for arrowheads in the area cause in the darker brown piles I found alot of chert type flint, and it was on a high spot close to a creek. Regardless of how it got there it made my day to find it, Ive been arrowhead huntin for 15 years or so and have found old silver coins, a few civil war bullets, but never a hog tusk!

i have saw thousands of hog tusk and im not so sure this is one. something just dont look right, might be because it would be a domestic hog? i dont know.

What's the story on the two pipes ?

The two pipes where given to me by a good friend who lives in Ohio, They are some "bad" ones that where dissposed of and buried in bulk somewhere in Ohio, cant remember what city but the pipe company was est. in the late 1800's early 1900's and a bridge was being torn down and along the base of the bridge, while arrowhead hunting, he ran across a cache, if you will of them, somewhere in the neighborhood of 80-100 of them of all types, some with designs and some with faces on them in a dirt covered pile. Give me a few weeks and I can get you the entire story. I thought they where very interesting givin the history behind them and he let me have a few of the junk ones!

Here is a tusk that is similar. Found in Nashville area. Found in a cabin that was built in 1850. It was 4 feet from the old stone fireplace.
