Food Plots Turnip question

We planted purple top turnips for years. The deer loved them. Then they stopped growing well. Literature says that they often develop a fungus if planted in the same spot year after year. Has anyone else experienced this. How long do you have to lay off planting them before they will do well again?

Crop rotation is the key to reducing diseases but yes I have seen plots produce dinner plate turnips then just play out. I would advise soil samples to see about nutrient depletion.
There are fungicides to treat with, some are over the top some are soil active. Do some reading about turnip farming to identify and to determine which one and which method of application.

check soil test because they probably took something out of the soil that you can add back and get better crops moving forward

I'd give it a rest for 2 years and change to wheat plus clover in the interim

I've rested it two years. Planted oats, wheat, cereal rye and clover. Will probably try turnips again next year
