Turkey Scope

I'm looking to put a scope on my 835 moss.not sure whats out there any thoughts ?truglo??

I prefer a more "traditional" scope. Just like with "rifle" scopes, the better the quality the glass, the better you can see what you're shooting.

My biggest complaint with some that are currently on the market is that they're oversized for their use and magnification. A large objective serves no purpose on a very low-power scope, even less considering you're seldom going to be in a "low light" shooting situation turkey hunting, since they're roosted in low light.

I'm using a Nikon Monarch 1.5 - 4.5 x 20mm Shotgun Scope. This model is no longer made, but might could be found used. And even with it's very small 20mm objective, it's a very good "low-light" scope. I was using it on a deer-hunting muzzleloader before switching it over to a turkey gun.

To my knowledge, the main difference between a scope marketed as a "shotgun" or "turkey" model is the parallax is set around 50 yards instead of the common 100 yards on a "rifle" scope. IMO, this is not a big deal, although the 50-yd setting would be a tad better on a shotgun.

I agree, this would be a better choice than the "red dot" scopes if you're going with zero magnification. Personally, I prefer a little magnification, as even at 1.5x, can still see the target much more defined than with naked eye.

I bought the B-Square combo from Bass Pro shop 3 or 4 years ago when I bought my 835. It was $89 if I remember correctly and comes with the mount and scope. I believe the scope is 1 or 2 power fixed. Never had a problem with it. In the second pic you can see where I put some camo tape over the mount to cover the shine.

Yea gonna try to check a bunch out .I'm leaning towards holo. But at 42 my eyes ain't gettin any better.....Thanks for the feedback!

Put a Nikon Turkey Pro on my Benelli last year and really like it. Has a 5" eye relief.

Good choice, imo.

But don't know why they didn't make this latest model with a 20mm objective, which would have provided a smaller "footprint" and still all the low-light benefits needed. Nikon's older "Turkey Pro" scopes (like I have) are very similar, except the objective is "flush" with the tube.

That is exactly what I'm using. Didn't know they were still available.

wes i believe the new ones with the larger objective are the buckmaster turkey pro and the 20 mm obj are the monarch turkey pro

i may be wrong tho but i know mine is the monarch glass is awesome

Agree, the Monarch glass may be the best on the "turkey" market.
Just didn't realize they were still being sold.
Even with their 20mm objective, they are very bright optics for low light.

Another excellent glass for turkey hunting was the Pentax Lightseeker 2.5x shotgun scope.
I'd prefer either it or the 20mm Monarch purchased "used" over any of the "new" ones I see on the market.

it wasn't me lol .I was hoping to find something in the 100 range .I've only been turkey huntin for 2 seasons so far with a bow[1 gobbler] so don't want to go crazy just yet.but I like good gear.....thanks again for all the replies
