What do ya'll use for tumbling media? Walnut and corn cob seem to be the most popular, either of them work better than the other?

So far the best stuff I have used to date is the Lyman Turbo Tumbler treated corn cob media.

It is fast and the brass comes out clean and mess free...........

I've been tumbling brass for over 25 years and have never been satisfied with any media. Two tumblers: Lyman 2400 pro and SmartReloader 737. Walnut, corn con, treated, untreated, with car wax, laundry sheets, orange peels(actually work a bit), just about everything. Picking flash holes, wiping residue from cases before sizing (or it will build up and wipe your die), I just have had it with tumblers and media.

I have a sonic clear than I really like but it is slow, particularly when you have 1500 223 military brass to get clean.

I have made up my mind to get a thumblers tumbler and go the Stainless Steel pin route. In goes deprimed trash and out comes what I consider to be perfect results. Bright inside and out, primer pocket cleaned, no residue.

The initial cost should be weighed against the fact the pins never wear out and the entire process is overall shorter in time spent and a whole lot less misery.

I've considered buying the Stainless media set-up but for no more than I shoot it would take a while to pay for itself. It does do an excellent job of cleaning and polishing cases though.

I have tried corncob, walnut, ceramic, and sonic. The very best I have found is stainless. I got mine from Stainless Tumbling Media. I wont my brass as clean and shinny as I can get them.

Stainless pin media in a Thumler Tumbler. Even if you don't load much you'll be happier with the time saved and finished product. I only tumble my brass for 1 hour in in vs 4 hours in walnut hull. And when it's done I don't have residue on the cases, just water that's allowed to dry for a day.

Congratulations RD, I believe you will be very satisfied.

How about some pic's? Dirty brass before, same brass afterwards?

Kind of a product review.

Will do Dave. Although my brass isn't really all that dirty. My see if I can find some raunchy ones and run them lol.

I've got a few 25-06 that would really test it, but they still have the primer in them.

I was thinking about going this route. Right now I use walnut.

You are the man BigD. Just ordered one of the double tumblers from Harbor Freight, http://www.harborfreight.com/dual-drum- ... 67632.html, with coupon code 65149244 it was $48.59 with shipping. Looks like the pins can be bought off Amazon with the Lemishine for $48 per 5 lbs. http://www.amazon.com/Pellet-Pins-Stain ... ellet+pins

The capacity of that tumbler is really small, you aren't going to be able to put very much in them.

I don't shoot enough to need to run 10 lbs at a time.

I've got some 25-06 dies I think BigD, we'll have to see how it does on the dirty ones.

I run mine in walnut and keep fresh polishing compound mixed in regular,,I also do mine before sizing and then when I size I wipe the lube and any residue in one motion,,make a half turn with a primer pocket cleaning brush and prime and load,,
