Trustworthy Gunsmith

I need someone in the Mid TN area that I can trust with the one rifle that has more sentimental value than anything. Maybe it is just me, but if feels like there is a slight play between the stock and the rest of the gun. I am usually good about messing with things myself, but this is one gun that I do not want to mess anything up on, it was my grandfathers and has been mine for the last 11 years. Its a Rem 700, so any recommendations would be nice.

x2. Check and make sure everything is snug before you pay someone else to tighten the screws.

Pretty sure all is tight, but I will double check. I just noticed it last night and everything appeared to be in order, but I did miss a doe a couple weeks back with no explanation on why (figured I clipped a limb I didn't see). I will give it a good once over before I take it anywhere. Its odd because I am up for working on almost anything, but I would never forgive myself if anything happened to this gun.

Tom Marker at Lock, Stock and Barrel in Franklin is a retired Tool & Die Maker and he has been gunsmithing for decades.

X2 on Tom at lock stock and barrel.He just rebarrelled my rem 700 7mm and this thing is awesome great work at decent price good all around smith.

both mentioned above are good if not great gunsmiths. DO NOT go to the franklin gun shop! for anything

X2 on never taking anything to Franklin Gun Shop. I called Frankilin gunshop to find out how much the gunsmith would charge me for some work. They said he was not in that day but I could bring in the gun and the gunsmith would call me back with an estimate. I took a rifle in and dropped it off. The gunsmith called me back and the estimate seemed a high so I told him to hold off and I would come get the rifle. When I got there they charged me a $45 holding fee for storing the rifle in their safe over night. I called up several gun smiths in the area and none of them had ever heard of a holding fee.

I have an I. Rizzini Verona LX 692 gold 20 ga, Italian made. To buy a brand new one they are $3500. At the time Franklin Gun Shop worked on it, it cost $1500 new. The gun is and was in NEW condition. No scratches, marks of any kind. The engraved screws that hold the receiver together looked like a 10 year old with the wrong size screwdriver had taken them and put them back in. They charged me over $150 to fix the gun and the gun was not fixed, it did the exact same thing as it did when I carried it in. I called Brian Hassler and complained. He said he looked at it and damaged screws were not an issue, it was only a 12 to 1500 dollar gun. He also told me I was not a nice person, I told him no one would be when their crappy 12 to 1500 dollar gun got screwed up. Horrible overpriced shop and anyone can tell them to call me or use me as reference to their terrible store anytime.
