Anyone fished trout at night this time of year? me and a buddy are campin in 2 weeks on caney. figured i would ask for advice on anything biting down there at night

Some people will tell ya the bruisers come out at night. Earlier this year I was night fishing throwing a 7" Bomber magnum series saltwater plug on falling water and a 27" hook jaw brown absolutely slammed it. It was a heck of a trout.

Never tried it myself, but it seems they are generating 24/7 on the Caney right now. It may be a little tough fishing in that fast of a current

In my opinion its the only time to fish when they are generating. i caught a 25.5 in brown last week while they was generating 3 generators

Wow, thats awesome. My only experience with trout and generation is below Tims Ford on the elk river and we never could catch anything there when they were generating. I haven't trout fished in many years though.

I've always had the most luck with trout on the Caney with no generation. That's awesome being with them going. But I've heard of others going there only at night with generators going and getting the big one....so good luck, and if you get em..post a pic

i fish watauga and south holston at night pretty regular, actually fished em past two nights, but you will absolutely catch some monsters at night... trust me there

a 3/4 oz egg weight over a minnow is my go to rig can wear some out

All the larger trout I've caught in the Caney came either at night or early morning. During the day, on no generation, you can catch 10-12" trout all day long but the bigger ones don't come out until night to feed. Occasionally you can catch the larger trout in the daytime during generation if you float it.
