Ok I'm terrible with electrical voltage knowledge. My question: If a trolling motor specs say 12/24v does that mean I can run said motor on one 12v battery (or 2 12v if I choose)? Based on the 12/24 label I would think yes but want to be sure. My boat is an Xpress 17/56 with 60 Yamaha 4 stroke. Minn kota I'm looking at is 45lb thrust.

Correct. Obviously running it on 24 will give you more power and run time. That brings a question up in my mind. Will you have more run time if you run 2 batteries in series at 12 volts or the same two in parallel at 24? Anyone know?

Running in 24 most of the time will give you more run time because of the work load. I don't remember the calculation's that we use to do when the Navy taught basic elect classes over 35 years ago but it is similar to running 220 vrs 110 is more efficient in most cases.
