Trolling motor question

I have a trolling question, I troll for crappie in the spring time. Is it possible to put your trolling motor up front, straight ahead? And steer from your boat steering wheel and steer with your motor like a rudder?

Possibly. You would need a Troll Perfect device (http://www.trollperfect.com/Pages/default.aspx)to lock your trolling motor into the straight ahead position, then set your unit on constant on. More than likely if you are maintaining sufficient speed the boat could be steered from the big motor.

If you have a Minn Kota PowerDrive they make 18ft cords to steer your boat from just about anywhere in your boat.

that's how I troll with my pontoon,works great but when you hang up or hook 1 & by your self its a pain to run to the front & kill the power,

I agree and use a Troll Perfect on my bass boat, works great when Im in heavy current and have to run my Trolling motor on high speeds.
