I put out 48 yo yos Friday night 36 with chicken breast 12 with night crwalers. I will say the CB is much cleaner to work with that gives them a one up. I caugh my two biggest cats and 1 turtle on CB. and caught two drum and 6 small cats on worms. probably got more meat out of the two big cats than all 6 of the little fiddlers. wind was out of the east and the fish just wernt doing it. I will give CB another chance. I did have about 1/2 of the hook cleaned without tripping the yo yos I thought that was strange.
 
Interesting... but I am not surprised by the difference in size of fish caught by CB versus worms.

As for hooks cleaned without tripping (assuming you mean ones baited with CB), I would assume that had to be turtles... something that can bite/slice meat versus pulling and tearing.

In my regular fishing drum will eat up worms and shiners... but we NEVER catch drum on CB. Weird because I thought drum would eat anything, but they clearly don't like CB.
 
do you think the CB losses scent or to much flavor over the course of the night I know your rod and reel fishing where I'm ;eaving my out all night.

Folks in my fishing circle frequently debate the pros and cons of "how long should you fish a piece of chicken?" I honestly don't know the answer... wish I did.

I've caught cats on CB that's been on a hook 2 or 3 hours (when I'm camped out for big fish)... but normally it never stays on the hook that long. Either it gets bit, catches a fish or I swap it out for a "fresh" piece.

That said... I don't know any reason CB wouldn't be good bait just long as a piece of cut bait. I suppose worms/nightcrawlers might be better since they will live a while on a hook, but even they die and get "washed out."

The only bait that will truly stay "fresh" is live bait/bluegill.
 
I am going to give it another chance or two, it is crazy that I paid $4.43 for 3 large CB and got at least 60 pc of bait and I would have to pay $3.99 for 12 night crawlers that might yield 24 pc of bait. and if the fish are not bitting I can deep fry the CB lol
