Short version of the story: Have a trespasser who's camera I found, over a pile of corn adjacent to what left of a food plot (i assume they planted last year?). Since then, I have reposted the trail they made (after they shot the first set of signs out of the trees) and also turned off the camera, hoping they would get the hint. I've dealt with a few tresspassers, but never one brazen enough to put a food plot on someone elses property...

I have thought about staying out of a tree Saturday morning, hoping to catch him/them and have a nice little chat. Looking for some advice on this one...

I think I would sacrifice a days hunt to catch this guy in the act.
Is this your personnel property or do you lease or just have permission to hunt it? The reason I ask is you either have to own the property or have power of Attorney to prosecute. If this guy is so brazen he NEEDS to be prosecuted and if I was in your shoes I wouldn't hesitate to do so. Sometimes prosecuting is the only deterrent to stop these types of people.

If he is so bold as to plant a food plot in property he don't have permission to hunt, then I'd say opening day (assuming he's a bow hunter) is prime time to catch the no-good in the act. Should be well worth your time to give up a day of your own hunting. Also since you can pin point the area he's likely to try to hunt so well, I'd call TWRA and see if I could get a Warden on standby to "introduce" him to. Somebody who had done this isn't going to stop if not confronted and most likely fined heavily.

I'm going to be out hunting hunters on my own land Saturday for the same reason. Since I don't bow hunt, it's no sacrifice for me other than the loss of a little sleep.

This makes me think that there may be a market for Treapass Prevention, Inc. Get a crack team of retired bounty hunters/ special forces guys, dress up like dog the bounty hunter in camo, and charge by the conviction. Landowner can hunt while TP, Inc. tracks down yugoheads.

I like the Trespass Prevention Team idea. TP inc, love it!

I do like that! Renting out trained African lions to patrol your woods sounds good too. I'm getting sick and tired of other people who think they can continue to use my land as if it's their own. The bucks there are sorry enough as it is without having more of them poached.

I am dealing with a guy who planted a food plot on someone else property. He has 5 acres, but thinks he owns 50. There is a 5 acre tract between him and my parents 10 acre tract. He planted a plot on the buffer 5 acres that was recently sold and he doesn't have permission to be on. I called and told him we were only allowing a family friends son hunt the 10 acres. He promised he doesn't leave his land, but his food plot isn't even on his land.

He did tell me there aren't any deer out there that he has only seen a doe and two fawns. So it would be a worthless to hunt. I don't have facebook but my son does and his trail camera pictures tell a different story. Neighbors have pictures of him riding all over their place, and they are pretty sure he is turning off cameras to walk past them. I am going to give up some hunts on my place and sit at my parents and try and catch him.

Now I like the TP Inc idea as well! Lol I do think I'm gunna give the warden a call and set up an introduction :) it is a lease, but we own land in the area and have had a problem with trespassers in the past, but not recently.

My neighbor here in the suburbs pulled up my flags when I had my yard surveyed for a fence. He constantly mowed a huge part of my yard and put up a privacy fence right on the line which is outside of the easement. I planted a garden over there and we work it together. Pretty much stopped the problem.

Where my farm and deer hunting is concerned, I am far less cordial and cooperative. First time is a warning, second time is a criminal summons for trespassing. I pulled my SD cards and saw two hounds wandering. They had best be gone by hunting season. I love dogs and will never shoot one unless it is vicious, but I would carry one to the shelter. Be sure to post the land so you have legal standing.

If somebody planted a food plot on my land and i couldn't catch them, the least I'd do is give the plot a good diesel fuel treatment. I'll be darned if I'd let them get away with drawing deer in to hunt on my land.

if there is a trail camera and its located on the lease, I would pull the card and see if I could find his face on it. You could put it back in the camera afterwards if you wanted.
