Took down all of my loc-ons to do a little rust removal and paint refurbishing and I happened to notice several of the nuts and bolts were rusting pretty bad also. Has anyone ever replaced them with stainless steel nuts and bolts? My concern is that I am not sure if the cold weather will decrease the strength of the stainless and I sure enough do not want to kiss the earth at 20 mph. Any thoughts?

I would not trust stainless bolts and nuts for treestand use. I have seen stainless strip and break when regular bolts held up.
Grade 5 is hard to beat.
Grade 8 is a no-no in some apps as well; i think it has to do with shear strength compared to g5 (had it explained to me once by hardware guru but can't remember details for sure, just remember g5 is good all around for stands).
It is not a lot of trouble to replace bolts and nuts every year or two. Haveing a stainless bolt snape while in a tree just because I wanted to prevent a little rust or reduce annual maintinence is a lot of trouble ;)

Just too expensiveto use stainless and that makes it impractical. Get a cordless drill and use a wire spin brush and hit them with it and then re-spray them with paint. Walmart carries the Camo green that i really like to use in the krylon brand i believe it is....this works well.
