Tree stands

I have hunted out of a summit viper for years and I love it. But resent lay bought a brand new tree lounge at a yard sale for $50 with all the attachments including the bow platform. I haven't had a chance to use it yet. Do you all think it is as good in all aspects as the summit viper?

Comfortable to sit in, for sure. It scares the heck out of me to have to stand and turn around in one just to sit down. Plus they are heavy.

If its used, and I didn't know who had used it, I would take to a machine shop or a welder and have the welds inspected. THOROUGHLY. If I didn't know its history, I would be extra cautious, and replace any bolts and nuts you can with quality components.

If its in good working order, you should enjoy it.

IMO it doesn't come close to the Summit. It isn't bad for a rifle stand if you like to hunt virually laying down, but isn't even in the ballpark with the Summit as a bow stand.

Agree with this ^^^. Tree lounges are Arguably the most comfortable climbing stand ever made. But overall I prefer the summits for the best all around stand. By that I mean reasonably priced, fairly light, comfortable enough, safe, easy to use and quiet.

If I had a tree lounge and private land to hunt that I felt fairly secure leaving a stand and not having it walk off. I'd hang it in one of my favorite "rut only" stands and leave it until mid november for those long day sits.

For bow hunting I don't like the tree lounge, a much smaller more compact stand with nothing around you to get in the way will be a much better bow stand.
