Ladder stands, loc on stands...in violation of LBL regs...No name, address, on the stands and left beyond the 5 day after season closure rules to be out..I come across them daily back in the woods as I take down illegal flagging, "Bright eyes", and other items left...The trash on the side of the roads and in the woods has gotten totally out of hand...

Not surprised. Unfortunately, hunters can be lazy slobs at times. Many are excited and motivated to put stands up as they anticipate season opener, but want nothing to do with removing their personal property once season is over and it is bitterly cold outside. I see personal property left behind often on numerous public lands.
 
Thanks for cleaning up the woods. It's all litter in my eyes. I'm always tempted to post the GPS coordinates of the stands I find. I've got no use for them, but if someone else wants to haul them out, they can have them.

Hey PO Cedar, thanks for going above and beyond in cleaning up the place.

I sure remember and enjoyed our first of November hunts and camping @ Neville Bay years ago. We had some great hunts.

Remember that time it rained so hard? You said you were glad I had that waterproof tent..... not a drop of water seeped OUT of it. We were soaked! LOL
 
I posted this hoping the ones that left the stands would take notice and remove them...Some have been there for years on the same tree; dangerous, and left in conspicuous locations..Some adventuresome kid or non- hunter climbing these could result in a broken neck...Regulations are made for valid reasons the majority of the time. I remember when all this printed money wasn't readily available and the average hunter had money for just one deer stand and he certainly didn't leave it behind..That Baker or Fox Squirrel stand was as important as his bow...I can tell by the placement on a couple of these stands that they are on the gun hunts.

No, yea, all kidding aside, I sort of agree, but to a point. If the stands are marked properly, and everything except a few days or even weeks after season is the only thing then yea, it may be seen as stealing because you never know what caused the delay. But the one with the chain I would consider abandoned, and would remove it.

Thankfully I use gps now. I was raised using bright eyes and the first time I went up to LBL by myself I set up a bright eye trail Almost a mile long.. needless to say I encounter countless other bright eyes to the point I could not follow my trail.

I also remove flags from any public land. And just so everyone knows I definitely am not the guy that takes the bottom ladder off of your stand and puts it on the next ridge over.

We'll drag them out to the road and notify law enforcement..Some of these are deep in the woods..Maybe they can auction the stands off and spend the proceeds for some much needed N/S trail markers..The trailhead kiosks are in terrible shape..

It sure sounds like abandoned property to me, especially if regulations state they must be removed within 5 days after season ends.

One last point; I have always been one that if I arrived late to the spot I wanted to hunt(public land) and a vehicle(s) had beat me to it, I went elsewhere so as not to mess up that hunter's hunt...same for tree stands I find up where I want to hunt...IF some person leaves the stand up year round it becomes a guessing game when or if that hunter is even using it that hunting season, or on a quota gun hunt he only gets drawn on every couple years, on and on; several scenarios comes to mind...Couple that with unsafe stands due to Chinese cheap ratchet straps, ozone damaged bungees, and squirrels chewing on the vulnerable parts through one or more seasons....
