Anyone use a grappling hook to pull up their bow?

I was listening to a podcast and they were talking about mobile set ups for public hunting. They said to use a grappling hook because if you are running a hangon with sticks and go up a gnarly tree your tow rope can get tangled. Use a rope with hook which can also save you in the event of dropping your coat or release. (we've all been there)

I started looking for a hook but thought something rubberized would be best for sound.

Anyone do this or know where I could find such a hook. It may be a fine line to find one the right size to be effective but also be easy to throw in your pack.
 
I use a carabineer because I want my bow/firearm to be totally secured during its ascent or descent in case something gets bumped/tangled (like a limb perhaps). I can secure the locking arm of the carabiner open and use it similar to a grappling hook if need be.
 
I know a lot of guys that do. I don't I mostly use sticks in trees with limbs and have yet to not be able to pull my stuff up. I have two pull ropes of for my backpack and one for my gun/ bow

I've had a couple of drops but nothing I couldn't do without while sitting there. I can't figure out if you guys are using climbers what limbs any cords/ropes would tangle with. There aren't any between you and the ground so you must be talking about hunting out of hang ons. Usually if I have that many limbs to curve or climb around on my way up I just sling my rifle on my back for the climb up.

+1. I don't like the idea of my rifle/bow not being completely secure when I'm pulling it up the tree. If it's that gnarly I'll put it on my back and carry it up the tree with me.

I have a length of trotline and a grappling hook at all my setups,I am bad about dropping a glove or face mask. As far as the cell phone it stays in my backpack.I don't need any more distractions in my old age,lol
 
I use a dog clip with the springy slide release. loop the rope through and then clip back to the line. I carry a decent size treble hook with points ground down that I can hook to the dog clip if I drop something. No luck on the cell phones yet. May be one of those magnet phone holders for your car could be rigged up?
 
I have done the dog leash before, and then started leaving my bow in the third hand archery holder on my climber. Looking for a new system this year when I hunt out of the lone wolf alpha.

^^^This, and any gnarly stuff is trimmed prior to occupying stand.
 
It was 18 degrees and windy. I dropped my ski mask and my fleece hood that kept my head so warm and toasty. I pulled my collar up and embraced the suck. I killed my first buck from a stand, a 5 point back in 1991.
