Tree herbicides

I'm planning on releasing my mast trees this year. What is the best herbicide? When is the best time of year? Any other pointers will help.

I like Tordon RTU in December through February. Alot of folks will also say 50/50 Roundup and water mix using hack and squirt around September also. I just prefer using the off season to do it and comepletely cutting the tree down and treating the stump.
